Hello and welcome to my official blog. I am an Indie Author of my first novel called A Second Chance; a novel based on a young woman building the courage to defeat abuse, deceit, and lies. I wrote this book (inspired by true events) because I have a strong message for young women in turbulent relationships. I recently published my first short story called The Past Beckons. Currently, I am working on my second novel and on a couple of short stories. I am also a freelance writer.
I enjoy writing about my journey as writer and about various topics that interest me. Hopefully, the topics will interest you as well. I want to create a fun-filled blog where we can share our thoughts and experiences.
I hold a master’s degree in business administration-accounting. I work full-time as an in-house accountant for a not-for-profit organization; and I am a freelance bookkeeper/accountant. You can visit my business website at http://www.mayrafreelancebookkeeping.com
My main goal is slowly, but surely transition from full-time accountant to a full-time author/freelance writer.
I am a wife, daughter, sister, an aunt to two great kids, and a mother to two beautiful dogs, Sheba and Alexis. So, when I am not writing or working with numbers, I spend quality time with my loving family.
I love music (especially the 80s), romantic and action films, Broadway and Off-Broadway shows and of course shopping (shoes and purses).
Thank you for stopping by.

Interesting blog. Cute “About Me”. You mention you have a master’s degree in accounting. I realized you do not speak of accounting in any of your posts. Just curious to know why. Anyway, keep up the good work.
Hello and thank you for your comment. In a nutshell, I enjoy accounting very much, but I do not take pleasure in writing about it.
Cool blog!
Hello Mayra! I came across your blog because it was featured on Bloggers.com today. Once I started checking things out, I couldn’t help but reading the whole thing top to bottom!
It seems (to me, at least) that too many people have the stereotype that there are “right-brainers” and “left-brainers.” You, however, are a good example of someone who doesn’t fit that stereotype.
I’m just starting out in a technical-oriented career, but I also have a big interest in spending my free time doing things that are more creative and expressive – especially writing. That is why I was so excited to find a working professional who wrote a BOOK in her FREE time. I also really liked your post about how writing can be therapeutic.
Hello Kristine!! Thank you for your comment. I really appreciate it. I find it very important to be true to your beliefs and do what makes you feel good. To me writing is a great form of expression and a way for me to release my innermost feelings. I encourage everyone to do the same.
