Happy January 2nd

Yesterday, I decided not to blog. No, I wasn’t hungover or  lacked energy. I actually took advantage of my day off to remain in pajamas and tidy up my first short story. I’m anxious to get this published; and if I do nothing about it, the story is sure not going to publish itself.

I am guilty of taking minor Facebook breaks, though. I was curious to know how my friends spent their New Year’s. Apparently, everyone enjoyed themselves. This year I didn’t see anyone write their New Year’s resolutions. It was a first for me because the year before that’s all I read. I guess people were too busy to write them down, didn’t care to share or do not believe in resolutions. I personally do not care for New Year’s resolutions. When I was younger, I heard family and friends talk about it, so I jumped on that wagon. As I got older and wiser, I jumped right off.

I do not believe in New Year’s resolutions because in my eyes resolutions have no meaning. If we need to change something in our lives, we should do it at any even time during the year. I read a friend’s Instagram note in which she states the reasons why she doesn’t agree with New Year’s resolutions. I didn’t feel alone. I think resolutions are just excuses. You want to change something, then change it…now.

Anyway, now that I got the new year’s resolution rant off my chest, let me hop back to my writing. I am proud to be a step closer to my finish line. The short story is not on domestic abuse. It’s based on a lighter subject. I do not want any of my short stories to be based on domestic abuse since it is a sensitive subject, which deserves a lot of attention and care and should be a novel, not just a few pages. I want my short stories to reference various life topics.

Well, I believe I did a reasonable job. When I put myself in the reader seat last night, I smiled and laughed and even caught myself sitting on the edge of my seat. I am super excited for the final product.  Let’s see what happens. Please send me all your positive vibes! :0)
